Programs for Children, Teens & Young Adults
In order to serve the young people of our faith community, we provide programs for the following age groups / categories:
- Pre-school / kindergarten – ages 3-5
- Grades 1-3 – ages 6-8
- Grades 4-6 – ages 9-11
- The youth program consists of junior and senior high school students. In the youth category, we offer additional programs (see youth programs).
- We also offer opportunities for college age students.
Sunday School is at 10 am on Sunday. We also have a Wednesday service at 6:30 pm for Junior and Senior High School students.
Our Youth Program Vision
At Community Church our vision is "to provide our young people with a variety of ongoing opportunities to be nurtured and loved, to grow in their faith, and to serve, as they enjoy deep relationships with their peers as well as with adults in this church in order that our young people might grow into lifelong maturing disciples of Jesus and committed members of His Church.”
Programs
The goals of our youth program reflect the adult programs at Community Church in that we provide ways in which our junior and senior high students may grow in their faith, discipline and love for one another. As Christians, we believe that each one is called into this world for a divine purpose. No one is left behind. Many of our youth leaders serve on a volunteer basis. If we expect our youth to lead lives that follow the principles given us by Jesus, we believe that they need to learn from loving and caring adults.
Our Junior and Senior High Youth program includes:
- Christian Education (Sundays)
- Logos (dinner, activities, worship service and Bible study - Wednesday evenings
- Confirmation classes (9th and 10th graders)
- Fellowship (movie nights, pool parties, etc.)
- Mission trips to La Mision, Baja California (Door of Faith Orphanage and Open Arms Daycare) and Los Angeles
- Assistance and fellowship with our Marshallese congregation
- Summer Links (a weekly program of fun and fellowship throughout the summer)
- Weekend retreats (topics such as “Who Am I?” or “Meaningful Prayer”; white-water rafting (3 nights in summer with a program); summer camp (Pilgrim Pines), a senior mission trip (spring), skiing (winter)
- Christmas caroling to our “shut in” members and assistance with our members in need.
Our program is structured in such a way that you may join us at any time in your junior or high school experience. We have found that by learning to follow Jesus, and yielding to the Holy Spirit, teenagers will find the strength that they need to thrive, not just exist, during these times of tremendous change in our world.
