Robin’s Nest / Nursery

IMG_0155The Robin’s Nest was conceived as a way to extend the benefits of the Sunday morning’s pre-school room (Classroom 1) to children and parents during the week.  In April 2005, The Robin’s Nest began as a parent-child education class on Friday mornings. Initially we welcomed parents with children between one and two years of age one morning a week for a 1 ½ hour program which included playtime, snack time, parental observation of the children and a circle time. As the program progressed, the parents worked on making simple projects for the children, such as a child’s apron, and a colorful cotton cape. We began to play outside in the church patio as the children got older, doing tasks together like washing the benches, sanding a wooden dollhouse, sweeping, and watering the plants. Discussions with parents both during the class and at periodic parent education evenings have focused on child development, parental leadership, decision-making and conflict resolution between children. We held a week-long summer program for the children of The Robin’s Nest where they came without their parents. Now these children are attending nursery schools in the community.

IMG_0158Currently, The Robin’s Nest holds an infant-parent class on Friday mornings from 9:30 – 11:00. The babies are between 6 and 18 months old.

Our vision is to provide a place for parents of young children to gather for the purposes of supporting one another and understanding the needs of the infant and young child.

We warmly welcome new families with all ages of babies and toddlers. Click here for more information.
