Wedding Staff

Pastors

Our pastors officiate at all weddings at Community Church. Requests for guest pastors to co-officiate should be directed to our pastor prior to the first meeting.

Wedding Directors

Our experienced Wedding Directors and staff are most helpful in the guidance and preparation of the wedding ceremony. The director's purpose is to guide the wedding party through rehearsal and to assure a smooth ceremony. She confers with the officiating pastors so as to be fully cognizant of the many details of your wedding ceremony. She will give you invaluable aid and help in making your wedding a beautiful and meaningful one. It is important to remember to contact the Wedding Director by the date indicated on your information sheet, so that there will not be any details overlooked. If one of the other directors is handling your wedding, she will call you to introduce herself before that date. This contact takes 20 minutes on the telephone.

The Photographer

In keeping with the sacred nature of the wedding service, Community Church has established guidelines for the photographer. It is the responsibility of the wedding couple to inform the photographer of the guidelines:

  • The photographer should arrive at the church one hour before the ceremony and introduce herself/himself to the Wedding Director.  This assures that the Director knows the photographer, and is aware of his/her presence on the grounds.
  • The groom and his men will receive their boutonnieres and have their photographs taken before the church is opened for guests.
  • The bride and her attendants will have approximately 1/2 hour to dress and 1/2 hour for photographs before the wedding. A backdrop is not to be used in the Bride's Room.  A separate room is available to set up a backdrop for photos.
  • Once the sanctuary doors are opened and the bridal procession begins, we ask that no more posed photographs be taken until the conclusion of the ceremony.
    • During the ceremony we ask that the following meaningful courtesies be observed.
    • Only the photographer takes photos; guests taking photos disrupt the services.
    • The photographer stays at the sanctuary door while taking photos.
    • No photos to be taken during prayer.
    • No flash cameras used by photographer or guests/family.
  • Following the ceremony, 20 minutes are allotted for formal pictures inside the church.  More time can be reserved by contacting the Wedding Director in advance. A $50 fee is required for 30 minutes extra before or after the ceremony.

Video Taping

Our guidelines for video taping are as follows, and once again we ask that the camera technician be advised before the wedding day:

  • A limit of two stationary cameras are allowed inside the church; one placed in the choir loft at the front of the church and one in the last pew.
  • The technician and the equipment remain in one place during the ceremony.
  • No artificial lighting may be used; it disrupts the service.

Music and Soloist

The Christian marriage service is an act of worship which the wedding party and guests share together. The purpose of music within the wedding ceremony is to help create a feeling of the joy and solemnity of the occasion. Both sacred and secular songs are permitted in the ceremony with the main criteria being good musical taste for performance in the church.

The organist needs to be consulted approximately 30 days before the wedding date.  At that time, the organist can describe the musical options available, including soloists or instrumental accompaniment such as flute, harp strings or brass ensemble.  Our fine grand piano is always available for use in the ceremony. During this meeting, the organist can also show you many appropriate preludes, marches and vocal selections, as well as any recommendations for hiring professional singers or instrumentalists. Fees for soloist and instrumentalists are extra, as are fees for additional rehearsals by the organist. No additional speakers or equipment are permitted in the sanctuary.
